Guruve Namah by Ragini Maharaj

Guruve Namah by Ragini Maharaj

Guruve Namah is a solo Kathak recital by Ragini Maharaj. It is a humble offering expressing surrender, gratitude, and reverence to the Guru — the remover of darkness (gu = darkness, ru = remover) — who guides the disciple towards light and knowledge.

The presentation will encompass all aspects of Paramparik Kathak Nritya in Teentaal (16 beats), reflecting the training Ragini Maharaj has received from her revered Gurus — the Maestro of Kathak, Pt. Birju Maharaj, her aunt Vidushi Mamta Maharaj and her father Pt. Deepak Maharaj.

The recital will conclude with a Lakshan Geet from the album Mann Bheetar, curated by Rachna Sarang, composed by Rajeev Mahavir, written by Pt. Birju Maharaj and choreographed by Mamta Maharaj, bringing the offering full circle in devotion and tradition.
