Bhaskareeyam: Kathak Masterclass & Workshop by Avenav Mukherjee

Masterclass

For dancers with at least 3 years of formal training

Participants can look forward to learning specific techniques such as masculine and feminine movements in choreography, the use of various footworks to navigate the stage, and explore vocabulary to depict different iterations. They will also learn Nritya Kavita, a rhythmic poem on dance which was conceptualised, composed and choreographed by Avenav Mukherjee. 

Workshop for Kids
7 Jul (Sun), 3pm - 4pm
For kids under 12 years of age

In this fun-filled session, kids will learn simple poetic compositions on Lord Krishna. They will also explore interesting ways to use numbers in Kathak.

4-Day Workshop
8 Jul (Mon) - 11 Jul (Thur), 7pm - 8.30pm
For individuals above 12 years of age & interested in learning an item

The 4-day Workshop will focus on Vasaksajja Nayika with the item Sab Ban than aayi Shyaam Pyaari by Bindadin Maharaj. The song describes Radha who awaits the pleasure of evening as much as she awaits her beloved. An inner radiance, like the lightning, leaves a bright glow on her face, as she revels in anticipation. She dresses herself for the union with her lover and eagerly immerses herself in the expectation of love’s pleasure.
