Let’s just dance! Bengapathiya refers simply to an Odissi dancer’s belt. It allows the dancer to achieve the illusion of a perfect tribhangi, or the three bends in the body; likewise it holds the on-going traditions of Orissa, it’s classical dance and music. Veshnu Narayanasamy commenced his exploration in Odissi in 1997 at Melbourne-based Bharatham Dance Company under Dr Chandrabhanu.
